We live in an age when the audience craves inspiration more than new information. The audience seek to be informed, educated, entertained, and enchanted. If my audience likes me, I can talk about almost anything, and they will respond with nod, marvel, laugh, and tears.

If I like the audience, my message takes flight. If the audience does not find me likable, they will receive even my most valuable knowledge critically and with silence. If I do not like the audience, I easily lose my inspiration and humor. Therefore, the key to a successful performance, beyond the quality of the content, is the connection’s quality. Mutual acceptance, deep attention, and open-hearted presence are essential. This is also the key to communication between body and soul, and perhaps beyond.
